FPL is nationally recognized as a leader in Demand-Side Management (DSM) programs. Since 1978, it's been our continued focus and commitment to provide a variety of cost-effective conservation and energy efficiency programs to help keep our customers' bills low.
Our DSM efforts through 2019 have resulted in a cumulative summer peak reduction of approximately 4,840 MW at the generator and an estimated cumulative energy savings of approximately 89,166 gigawatt-hours (GWh) at the generator. This has eliminated the need to construct the equivalent of approximately 15 new 400-MW generating units.
Residential customers can track, learn about and help control their energy usage with FPL’s Energy Manager tools, including our FPL Energy Analyzer, which provides customers a personalized savings plan with energy saving tips and recommendations, including programs and rebates that may be available to them. The tool works with FPL’s Energy Dashboard to show customers how much energy they are using by the month, day and even down to the hour.
More than 711,000 FPL customers are enrolled in our On Call Program. Customers volunteer to participate in the program and receive a credit on their monthly bill in return for agreeing to allow us to turn off selected appliances for short periods of time when absolutely necessary. This program helps us meet the energy needs of all customers during times of high energy usage.
