                          VALUING EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

                          At NextEra Energy, we value employee engagement and continuously strive to make it better. Studies have shown that engaged employees not only do their best work achieving exemplary business performance, but they are also personally vested in their organization and try to further its mission and values.

                          Through our deliberate and continuous focus on engagement, we are able to build on a culture that inspires our employees to stay at NextEra Energy. We want all employees to find their work personally rewarding and feel that their contributions are valued.

                          We regularly survey NextEra Energy employees to gain insight into the aspects of engagement that are most important to them. In 2018, all employees were invited to take action in the company's engagement survey. NextEra Energy's overall engagement score for 2018 was 72% -- a top-quartile performance and an improvement from the previous engagement survey held in 2016. 


                          Equally important as the overall survey score are the insights we gain from employees on areas for improvement. As a result of previous surveys, we have made numerous improvements across the company, including implementing senior executive outreach sessions, offering career management webinars and providing tools to equip leaders and employees to better connect through everyday conversations.

                          Based on what we learned from employees in our 2018 engagement survey, our areas of focus for 2018, 2019 and beyond included effective leadership; enhancing engagement at all work locations; and improvement of tools, systems and processes. The survey also showed that the areas that employees are most positive about are safety, diversity and inclusion, higher engagement across nuclear fleet and work connection to company success.
